The one-size-fits-all model of content-based examination-oriented teaching that takes place in the majority of schools even today has actually been obsolete for ages and must be replaced by a very different system of skills-based inquiry-oriented personalized learning.
Children growing up now need to be much smarter as individuals and as a generation. In such circumstances, rather than focusing on chunks of information and content, rather than providing them with ready-made answers to questions and solutions to ‘probable’ problems and crises, we need to empower our children by concentrating on developing all their skills and processing systems and by helping them mature into complete creative personalities.
The focus of school education must be entirely on the fullest possible development of the wide variety of dimensions of the body, mind and spirit that constitute the personality. Education and learning at school should be a very happy and joyful process through which all the individual talents, abilities and potential of children are discovered, kindled, nurtured and sustained to enable them to lead a life of spiritual, intellectual, emotional, aesthetic, cultural, social, physical and professional fullness and integrity as adults.
Accordingly, Aawasiya Turning Point has embarked on the process of designing a comprehensive curriculum that operates effectively at different class levels by dovetailing the content chosen with clear strategies and systems for developing specific skills, aptitudes and attitudes required to be a life-long learner and for leading a full and contented life in the 21st century. Aawasiya Turning Point has already devised the basic framework for a holistic programme of education or curriculum that focuses on creative talents, skills, aptitudes and attitudes that helps to process and transform every kind of information or data into knowledge and thereafter that knowledge into wisdom that can be applied to life. Aawasiya Turning Point’s very own Curriculum Development Unit is constantly working to improve on this curriculum plan as well as the implementation strategies for it.
